 Forwards

The pens second line has the likes of Grzzlh on LW, GallyChucky on C, and myself (Bstieboydp) on RW.  We went 2-1 this week and dominated the play at times in games 1 and 3, but failed to convert on multiple scoring chances.  Defensively the line looks sound, however we will have to start converting on these chances if we want to compete with the better lines in the league.

The third line is composed of Snowy on LW, ACK-stoneryboy on C, and TGolding007 on RW.  They notched a win last night holding off the flyers in a 5-4 nail biter which saw stoner-boy picking up 5 points and Golding with 4 goals.  They also took a loss to the senators in the first game of the night, although the LW was swapped with hra-ow.  If they can keep the offensive production up, they can really solidify the pens roster and help the team go on a surge.

Defense

The defense's 3rd line is still not set in stone.  We have Kabal333 holding down the LD spot, but the RD spot still has to be filled and is likely going to be a roster call up.  Kabal has a good defensive stick, and as long as he moves the puck quickly and makes smart reads, should fill in nicely on the 3rd pairing.  More information should be available on the RD position later in the week.

Season 7

Welcome to a new season of the LGHL Pittsburgh Penguins.  Last season we started to get away from team oriented fun and a bad aura was floating in the locker room so I stopped doing the blog.  I hope to keep this seasons blog more consistent.  This first post will break down our first line, and I will follow up with 2nd and 3rd lines and depth players by tomorrow.

Forwards

As for our biggest acquisition, we gained the most coveted player of the league in Jclaus.  Honestly, even at his ridiculous 14.25 million dollar contact I can say he is worth it.  I played 2 seasons for 2 easy cup wins with this cat in another league, and he has the niftiest mittens I've ever seen.  He shuts it down in his own end, makes people look foolish and scores at will, all while creating more ice for other players.. what more can be said.

Outlook:  Look for him to finish near the top in the league in takeaways and points.

For our GM we have Kraz18, a great big game player who knows how to dominate on both sides of the ice.  He is coming off a Stanley Cup win in Chicago, and also has a Calder Cup under his belt.  He will likely decimate lines with Jclaus, as opponents won't have the option to concentrate on just one dynamic player.  He has a great nose to the net, and can produce on a nightly basis.

Outlook:  Look for him to finish near the top in the league in points.

Hra-ow is a coveted prospect that is coming off a great season in the CHL.  Although his stats look really impressive, it remains to be seen if he can keep that type of production up at the NHL level, as defense is a lot tighter in the big show.  He will likely get a chance to play on the top line with some Kraz and Jclaus.  Quite frankly you can play with your feet and get points playing with those guys, so I don't see him having a problem producing.

Outlook:  Look for him to try to make a difference early on in the season, if he can't produce he will probably be swapped out pretty quickly.

Defense

First D-pairing looks like its going to be TheKaner_88, and the late acquisition Explicit AKA Lalz.  TheKaner has great hands and can get the offense going with a quick first pass.  He also can play the shutdown role in his own end.  Lalz is coming off a couple season hiatus so it will be interesting to see how he fairs, but I have played league with him before and he had no problem shutting down opponents on the previous versions of the game, so I don't see him having an issue with Nhl18 having a big emphasis on Defense.

Outlook:  Look for the first d pairing to rack up a lot of wins, and chip in offensively.  As long as these two gel well together they should prosper playing behind the likes of claus and kraz .

That's it for now gents, like I said look for another write up for the rest of the lines by tomorrow or Wednesday.

Week 5 ups and downs

This week the Penguins started off on fire, winning 6 straight games before failing to obtain a single point for the remainder 3 games.  Our owner Sedinpower said this of the back end of the week  "The guys were playing well together and making some nice plays but at the end of the day you have to play defense well to win in this league and that is where they faulted, leaving their goalie to fend for himself multiple times."

The first line had their best week yet going 3-0 and looking good in the process.  The newly acquired Benzo proved to be a great pickup for Center, as he notched 9 points and 3 Wins in his first week with the team.  Weapon had a breakout week netting 13 points and was named LGHL's 3rd star of the week.  The second line continues to remain the most consistent going 3-0 and holding a 10-4-1 record overall.

Sedinpower continues to make excellent move to help propel his team forward, completing the following trades.

What stands out to me is Mesmerize for Sudzy, while mesmerize is a solid two-way center in his own right, Sudzy has a much higher ceiling and his skill level is top notch, he also has had success with several line-mates on this team so look for him to make an immediate impact on the week coming up.  Giddeus is a solid two way defender, and he will look to shore up the 3rd line defense that was lacking shut down ability.  And just today we have inside information saying that there is one more move to be made for a depth forward position.

All in all, the Penguins continue to fight there way into the heart of the playoff push, look for them to have another strong outing in week 6 with the new additions making an impact right away.

Stay tuned for a Mid-week update and an AHL update as well.

Welcome to the first edition of LGHL Penguins Weekly News.

The penguins are currently enjoying a six game winning streak and look to right the ship as they have their strongest week yet.

Riding high for the end of October

26 games into the season and the penguins have overcome a shaky start after some roster moves to fall back into the upper half of the standing which is where this team belongs. You have to command the GM/Owner for making moves only when they thought it was appropriate and getting this team back on track.

All lines were shuffled for the past couple of weeks, but there seems to be some consistency as of late, and depth has also been improved with the third line getting an injection of talent with alexdrum100 moving there.

Taking a look at the team stats, Bstieboydp is leading the team with 23 points, but Bigyan is right behind with 22 and also has one more game to play this week.  Our owner Sedinpower and Macinnis have been simultaneously shutting down the other lines while chipping in on offense each and every game.  Testes, err Testify is leading the way with helpers with 17, while Kabal and BigYan are leading the way with hits with 27 each.  Weapon is a skilled player who just needs to find the right linemates to start tearing it up, look for him to pick it up in the coming weeks.

Speaking of which, there have been a couple of hiccups for the 1st line and the team tried to address this by shipping out a talented player Phenomenalxone17 to bring in more chemistry and a player that fits our system better in Mesmerize.  Goosechuk has also been brought in to solidify the defensive core and he seems to fit right into the system, notching a win in last nights game and picking up 1st defensive player star of the day.

Goouu_x27 has been a cornerstone in net, and very consistent.  Posting close to a .800 save percentage through 14 games is impressive in this league, and a 2.00 GAA is also very good.  Montoni007 has faced almost as many shots despite having played 4 less games, but his numbers are a bit low for what he is capable of.  I am not saying he is playing bad by any means, I simply know what he is capable of.  Perhaps the puck luck just was not there for him so far, look for him to be on an upswing in the coming weeks.
